Note:  The Recorder's Department does not prepare & cannot help complete documents for recording. Individuals who wish to record a document must  have the document drafted before coming to the Recorder's Department. The Recorder's office cannot give legal advise and cannot tell individuals which title or form to use. It is important to always seek legal advise from experienced individuals when dealing with a legal document.

The purpose of recording is to provide the following:

  • Public Record of Ownership
  • Chain of Title
  • Permanency of Record

After the document is prepared and completed, it can be presented to the Recorder's Department for recording. Once the document is recorded, the record is permanent and becomes a public record.
