Official Records are important documents that have been recorded and made public record and in most cases are related to real estate.

Examples of Official Records include deeds, liens, mortgages, contracts, judgments, affidavits, certificates of military discharge and maps.

A Report of Separation (DD-214) is generally issued when a service member performs active duty or at least 90 consecutive days of active duty training. The Report of Separation contains information normally needed to verify military service for benefits, retirement, employment and membership in veterans' organizations. Information shown on the Report of Separation may include the service member's:

• Date and place of entry into active duty
• Home address at time of entry
• Date and place of release from active duty
• Home address after separation
• Last duty assignment and rank
• Military job specialty
• Military education
• Decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign awards received
• Total creditable service
• Foreign service credited
• Separation information (date and type of separation, character of service, authority and reason for separation and separation and reenlistment eligibility codes)

Report of Separation may be recorded in our office.

Copies of the DD-214 are available to the veteran at no charge.

Recorded maps are indexed pursuant to California law. They can be searched by name, book/page, recording document number, date or date range, and type of map. They are not indexed by Assessor Parcel Number (APN) or address.
