The Election Security Advisory Committee (ESAC), established by the County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters, addresses critical issues confronting local elections. These include ballot box accessibility, cybersecurity, safeguarding election workers, and combating voter suppression.

The committee plans to convene four meetings annually, with additional sessions during election periods. Membership will be by invitation only, with certain records exempt from public disclosure, such as those related to pending litigation, election infrastructure security, or criminal investigations.

Members of ESAC will offer expertise in diverse fields including physical and cybersecurity, public policy, law, and the protection of election workers and officials from threats and intimidation. Their recommendations will focus on enhancing coordination, implementing effective responses, enforcing actions, and promoting best mitigation practices.

ESAC may collaborate with federal and state agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the California Secretary of State, the California Office of Emergency Services, and the California Office of Election Cybersecurity, as needed to address pertinent issues.
